The Louis Stokes Cleveland VA Medical Center, a 673-bed tertiary health care facility, offers the Louis Stokes Cleveland VA Medical Center Primary Care Clinic as a large comprehensive ambulatory setting serving Veterans. The Director will oversee clinic operations, the educational mission with residents, medical students and nursing practitioners, and patient care continuity. The successful candidate will qualify for appointment as an Assistant Professor at Case Western Reserve University.

Duties

The Director of the Primary Care Clinic will oversee and enhance the performance of the clinic and lead educational activities. Responsibilities include administrating over 14-15 MDs/NPs (clinic scheduling, resident curriculum implementation, conflict resolution), conducting routine meetings with clinic leadership (including nursing, Patient Care Administrative Services (PCAS) and residency leadership), directing patient care in the ambulatory continuity clinic setting, and ensuring the clinic meets its Center of Excellence mission. Relocation expenses are not authorized for this position.

Required Skills

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  • U.S. Citizenship (non-citizens may be appointed only if it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens).
  • Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree in medicine or osteopathic medicine.
  • Completion of first-year residency, or its equivalent, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs for the year in which it was completed.
  • Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in any State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
  • Board certified or eligible in Internal Medicine or Family Practice.
  • Ambulatory/management experience at an academic medical center.
  • Experience working with residents and medical students.
  • Evidence of academic scholarship.
  • Work experience within a Primary Care Medical Home model.
