PRN Radiologic Technologist - OH Elmwood

Job Overview This role provides individualized health care services through effective communication—including electronic, phone, and in person—to assigned patients of diverse backgrounds and ages. The employee works with team members to support patients and physicians during the entirety of visit, assesses patients and safely performs routine radiographic procedures according to protocols, communicates with patients to ensure timely and accurate needs are met, documents pertinent medical information in the company’s data systems, and acts as a clinical mentor for junior staff and students. Job Duties Support and ensure the patient is prepared for the visit by completing appropriate documentation, including patient registration as needed, explaining procedures to the patient’s understanding, and answering questions prior to leaving; after the patient leaves, prepare the room for the next appointment. Support and ensure the provider is prepared for the visit by verifying physician orders and procedures for accuracy. Independently operate equipment, including radiology information systems to complete imaging procedures according to protocol; this includes placement of nasogastric tubes, IVs, urinary catheters and administration of contrast to facilitate care. Review patient images prior to transmission to ensure images meet diagnostic quality standards. Complete timely quality control procedures in accordance with regulatory standards and perform notification/remediation as warranted. Assist in the facilitation of departmental operations, including inventory, staff schedules, and equipment maintenance. Adapt behavior to the specific patient population, respecting privacy, method of introduction, adapting explanation of services or procedures, requesting permissions, and communication style. Perform other related duties as required. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of information. Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process. Proficiency with Windows-style applications and various software packages specific to the role and keyboard. Strong interpersonal skills. Strong customer service skills. Education High School diploma or equivalent. Completion of a Radiologic Technology program from an American Medical Association (AMA) approved school. Work Experience Required – Experience working with and maintaining confidential information and working in a fast‑paced environment with minimal supervision. Preferred – Prior healthcare experience. Certifications Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). Licensed by the Radiologic Technology Board of Examiners in the state of practice. Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association. Physical and Environmental Demands Medium Work – Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. The job involves walking or standing to a significant degree, sitting most of the time with occasional pushing and pulling of material, and working at a production‑rate pace that may involve constant pushing and pulling of materials regardless of weight. Duties performed routinely require exposure to blood, body fluid, and tissue. The incumbent works in a patient‑care area and may be exposed to communicable diseases.
