Substitute School Bus Driver

The Black Horse Pike Regional School District has openings for Substitute School Bus Drivers. Qualifications include a high school diploma, a valid N.J. CDL Class B License with passenger endorsement, no passenger restrictions, and School Bus Endorsements. The candidate must demonstrate aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities, ability to maintain passenger discipline to ensure their safety and well-being, and protect against vandalism. Reports to the Assistant Business Administrator. Job goal is to provide safe and efficient transportation so that students may enjoy the fullest possible advantage from the district's curriculum and extra-curricular program, when full-time drivers are absent. Performance responsibilities include conducting a daily safety inspection of the bus, obeying all traffic laws, observing all mandatory safety regulations for school buses, maintaining discipline when students are on the bus daily, adhering to established routes, designated bus stops, and keeping to assigned time schedule, discharging students only at authorized stops, keeping the assigned bus clean and fueled, exercising responsible leadership when on out-of-state school trips, transporting only authorized students, reporting all accidents and completing required reports, enforcing regulations against smoking and eating on the bus, planning trip directions prior to departure with plans for potential road assistance if the bus breaks down, removing snow as needed to ensure the bus is safe for operations and travel on roadways, keeping the proper amount of fuel in the bus at all times, and completing all required training in a timely manner. Period of employment is during days that full-time drivers are absent. May also cover athletic runs and field trips. Per policy 4125, the district will give preference to qualified individuals who are residents of the Black Horse Pike Regional School District.
