Medical Surgical Evening Educator

Role Description The Medical Surgical Evening Educator is a full-time, on-site role based in Salem, MA, responsible for advancing clinical practice and staff development on medical-surgical units during evening shifts. This role designs, delivers, and evaluates education programs for nursing and interprofessional staff, including orientation, competency-based training, and ongoing skill development. The Educator collaborates with unit leadership to identify learning needs, supports quality and safety initiatives, and integrates evidence-based practices into daily workflows. Regular responsibilities include facilitating in-services and simulations, mentoring staff, providing real-time coaching at the bedside, and maintaining accurate documentation of educational activities and competencies. The Educator also works closely with clinical and education teams to align unit education with organizational standards, regulatory requirements, and performance improvement goals. Qualifications Candidates should possess strong Teaching and Training skills to effectively deliver clinical education and support staff development. Candidates should possess solid Lesson Planning and Education skills to design, implement, and evaluate structured learning experiences. Candidates should possess excellent Communication skills to collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and provide clear guidance to staff. Current registered nurse (RN) license in Massachusetts, with significant medical-surgical clinical experience. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; Master’s degree in Nursing, Education, or related field preferred. Experience in clinical education, staff development, or preceptor/mentor roles in an acute care setting strongly preferred. Demonstrated ability to integrate evidence-based practice, quality and safety principles, and regulatory standards into education plans.
