Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a night shift position requiring NM or Compact RN license and 1 year of recent Med/Surg experience.

Details

• Work on a 32-bed Medical Surgical unit
• Nurse to patient ratio of 1:6
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (18:30-7:00)
• Weekend requirement of 6 weekend shifts within a 6-week period
• No on-call requirements
• Floating required to like units within scope as needed based on facility needs
• Uses Epic charting system
• Rapid response team activation responsibilities

Requirements

• Active NM or Compact RN license required (pending NM/Compact accepted if obtained prior to start)
• BLS certification required
• CPI certification preferred
• Minimum 1 year of recent Med/Surg nursing experience required
• Epic charting experience preferred
• Skills in IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, and central line/PICC line management
• Experience with chest tube management (Emerson/PleurEvac), HFNC, and oxygen administration
• Skilled in wound care/wound vac and isolation precautions/PPE
• Experience with colostomy/ileostomy and feeding tube management
• Medication administration experience with Heparin, Insulin, and PCA
• Experience with pre/post hemodialysis management and renal failure care
• Surgical drain management experience

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care to a Medical Surgical patient population
• Support rapid response team activations as needed
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply, provided they have at least 24 months of nursing experience
• Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility, as locals are not accepted
• Previous staff members must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
• No travel pairs or groups accepted
• Maximum of 4 days RTO can be auto-approved at time of submission
• No RTO permitted during the first week of orientation
• Brief orientation provided when floating to other units
