The Tax Preparer will manage a mixed portfolio of individual, small-business, and corporate tax returns while supporting clients through document collection, preparation, review, filing, and compliance activities. Reporting to a Partner or Owner, this role combines document-focused work, routine client contact. During tax season there may be opportunity for additional hours.
Responsibilities
- Conduct client intake and collect required tax documents.
- Prepare individual, small-business, and corporate tax returns.
- Review returns for accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
- Analyze deductions and identify applicable tax opportunities.
- Research tax laws and apply findings to client returns.
- Complete electronic filing and track submission status.
- Communicate with clients regarding documentation, questions, and return requirements.
- Track deadlines and maintain organized, confidential tax records.
Preferred Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in tax preparation.
- Experience with tax preparation software.
- Knowledge of tax law research and tax compliance.
- Experience preparing individual and business tax returns.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Effective client communication skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
