Job Description

The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing interventions and patient care plans. The RN provides care that respects each patient as an individual, fostering dignity and self-regard.

Essential Functions

• Conducts assessments and reassessments to plan and evaluate nursing interventions and patient care goals.
• Delivers patient care in accordance with established standards of care, protocols, and policies.
• Provides education and teaching to patients and families based on identified learning needs and barriers to learning.
• Collaborates with the healthcare team to prepare patients and families for discharge, integrating necessary support systems.
• Delegates and supervises nursing interventions performed by colleagues.
• Prioritizes patient care effectively and seeks assistance when necessary.
• Documents all pertinent data and therapeutic interventions accurately and in a timely manner.
• Facilitates thorough reporting on assigned patients to ensure continuity of care.
• Promotes ongoing learning for both self and colleagues, serving as a preceptor or trainer as needed.
• Identifies patient safety risks and seeks to mitigate healthcare errors.
• Administers medications and IV therapy following physician orders and established policies.
• Assesses and manages patient pain levels, documenting assessments and responses to treatment.
• Interprets and documents cardiac rhythms, implementing treatment plans as directed.
• Provides ongoing assessment and education to surgical patients and their families.
• Sets up and maintains equipment related to patient care as necessary.

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to exert 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently.
• Requires frequent reaching, handling, and feeling for patient care activities.
• Occasionally stoops or kneels during patient interactions.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Minimum of 1 year of Medical/Surgical experience preferred.
• 1 year of Telemetry experience preferred.
• 1 year of Pediatric experience preferred.
• Current RN license.
• ACLS certification upon hire or must obtain AHA ACLS within 60 days of hire. PALS certification preferred.
• Demonstrates professionalism, including tact, empathy, and diplomacy.

Job Schedule

This position requires a 40-hour evening shift from 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM, including every other weekend and holiday.
