Category/Area of Expertise: Legal Job Requisition: 500170 Address: USA-MA-Quincy-1385 Hancock Street Store Code: Claims Management (5157502) Job Description Ahold Delhaize USA, a division of the global food retailer Ahold Delhaize, supports five leading omnichannel grocery brands — Food Lion, Giant Food, The GIANT Company, Hannaford and Stop & Shop — across services such as Finance, Legal, Sustainability, Commercial, Digital & E-commerce, Technology and more. Primary responsibilities include investigating Workers' Compensation claims to determine compensability, managing the claim throughout its lifecycle, and ensuring service level targets are met. This role serves as the main interface with associates, attorneys, healthcare providers, vendor partners and Brand partners. The position offers a hybrid work schedule with one in‑person day at a core location and four remote days. Core office locations include Salisbury, NC; Chicago, IL; Quincy, MA; Carlisle, PA; Scarborough, ME; Hyattsville, MD; and Mauldin, SC. Principal Duties and Responsibilities Manage WC caseload within established targets and appropriate level, conducting thorough investigations, evaluations, negotiations, and dispositions while ensuring compliance with statutory and legal obligations. Monitor and ensure timely execution of all statutory deadlines and legal filings. Analyze facts of the loss to determine claim nature, develop optimal outcome strategies, and mitigate total cost of risk for the Banners’ bottom lines. Identify fraud indicators and actively pursue subrogation opportunities. Collaborate with the Safety department to identify hazards in retail and distribution operations and devise ways to minimize these risks. Build and maintain positive relationships with internal stakeholders (Brands, Distribution Centers, Transportation, Ecommerce, Human Resources, Legal, Insurance) and external stakeholders (vendors, healthcare providers, outside attorneys). Financial Impact Administration Manage book of claims business (up to $1 million WC) with authority to settle or negotiate a single claim up to $50,000 (Corporate Authority policy). Communicate ongoing causes of WC injuries to Safety and Brands. Act as the primary point of contact for resolving claim issues impacting customers, associates, vendors, and brands, including research, resolution, and timely communication via phone, email, and online applications. Basic Qualifications Licensed adjuster or ability to obtain license, as applicable by jurisdiction. Bachelor's degree or 2 years WC claims experience. Thorough knowledge of rules, regulations, statutes and procedures pertaining to workers' compensation claims. Knowledge of medical terminology involved in complex claims. Strong negotiation skills. Skills and Abilities Strong relationship building and communication skills, both written and verbal. Highly self‑motivated, goal‑oriented, and able to work well under pressure. Customer‑focused with solid understanding of WC legal procedures, processes, practices, and standards for handling complex claims. Ability to identify problems and effectuate solutions. Capacity to manage multiple tasks simultaneously with excellent follow‑up and attention to detail. Application of critical thinking when solving problems and making decisions. Salary IL/MA/MD/NY: $30.54 - $45.81

ME/NC/PA/SC: $26.54 - $39.81
