Queens Community House (QCH) is seeking dedicated High School Tutors to provide academic support, homework assistance, and individualized or small-group instruction for students in grades 9–12.Tutors play a critical role in helping students strengthen academic skills, prepare for graduation, and build confidence for college, careers, and lifelong success.Academic SubjectsTutors may support students in one or more of the following areas:MathematicsAlgebra I & IIGeometryPre-CalculusStatisticsScienceBiologyChemistryPhysicsEarth ScienceEnglish Language ArtsReadingWritingEnglish Language Arts (ELA)Social StudiesU.S. HistoryGlobal HistoryGovernment & EconomicsCollege & Career ReadinessSAT PreparationRegents Exam PreparationStudy SkillsTime ManagementTest-Taking StrategiesCollege Essay WritingResearch & Writing SkillsResume DevelopmentCollege & Career PlanningTechnology & Digital LiteracyBasic Computer SkillsMicrosoft Office SuiteGoogle WorkspaceDigital ResearchCoding FundamentalsArtificial Intelligence (AI) LiteracyPosition SummaryOur goal is to provide students with the academic support, confidence, and skills necessary to graduate from high school prepared for higher education, meaningful careers, and lifelong success.Key ResponsibilitiesAcademic Instruction & TutoringProvide one-on-one and small-group tutoring sessions.Assist students with homework, class assignments, and academic projects.Reinforce classroom instruction using effective teaching strategies.Develop engaging lesson plans and learning activities based on student needs.Differentiate instruction to support diverse learning styles and abilities.Monitor student progress and adjust instructional strategies accordingly.Prepare students for Regents Exams, SATs, and other academic assessments.Student Support & MentorshipBuild positive, supportive relationships with high school students.Foster confidence, self-advocacy, and academic responsibility.Serve as a positive role model and mentor.Help students strengthen organization, study habits, and time management skills.Create a respectful, inclusive, and engaging learning environment.Motivate students to establish and achieve academic and personal goals.Collaboration & Program SupportCollaborate with Program Directors, teachers, school staff, and families to support student success.Maintain accurate attendance records and tutoring documentation.Communicate student progress and academic concerns with program leadership.Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and professional development.Support academic enrichment activities, workshops, family engagement events, and other program initiatives as needed.Assist with maintaining a safe, welcoming, and productive after-school environment.EducationMust be at least 18 years of age.Currently enrolled in or have graduated from an accredited college or university.Preferred areas of study include:EducationMathematicsEnglishScienceHistoryPsychologySocial WorkHuman ServicesComputer ScienceBusinessOr a related fieldExperience & SkillsMinimum of 1–2 years of experience tutoring or working with high school students in schools, after-school programs, community organizations, or other youth-serving programs.Strong knowledge of one or more high school academic subject areas.Ability to explain academic concepts in a clear, engaging, and patient manner.Demonstrated classroom management and youth engagement skills.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving abilities.Ability to motivate, mentor, and inspire students to achieve academic success.Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, school staff, and colleagues.Commitment to fostering an inclusive, equitable, and supportive learning environment.Additional RequirementsBasic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism when working with students and families.Successful completion of a background check.NYC Department of Education (DOE) Fingerprinting and Clearance Review required prior to employment. #J-18808-Ljbffr Priority Dispatch Corp.
