Overview Full-time, year-round, non-exempt position Reports To: FOD Movie Site Manager Summary: Under the direct supervision of, FODMS Site Manager, this position will oversee the maintenance and upkeep of the original baseball field, movie site and tourney area grounds. The selected candidate will have knowledge of equipment, tools, safety, and procedures of baseball field maintenance. Essential Duties Essential job duties for this position include the following items. Other duties must be performed as assigned or required. Demonstrate continuous professionalism and respect while working with customers, business partners and staff members. Suggest and/or Solicit vendor bids and provide recommendation on preferred vendor to FODMS site manager who will recommenda vendor to the Executive Director of Dyersville Events for board consideration. Perform and/or supervise all vendor work from beginning to end of project ensuring a timely and professional completion of job. Use appropriate equipment in maintaining baseball field grounds beautiful, professional looking and easily accessible to visitors and staff. Perform minor maintenance as needed and pursue vendor bids as necessary for more complex projects. Oversee all vendor contracts for grounds work. Stay current with changing soil and baseball turf technology. Uphold, support and promote all company policies and procedures Specific tasks include Raking and dragging fields Pick up debris on ballfield Cleaning, spraying, replacing bases Edging along basepaths Ensure professional lawn maintenance is performed to high specifications Mow ball infield and trim around bleachers as desired, working in concert with the lawn maintenance service schedule with provided equipment. Mowing of parking areas, roadways and areas surrounding cornfields as needed. Call and manage contractors Work weekend special events as needed(parking/field prep/chalk lines) Empty garbage containers as needed. Touch up supplies and service of portable restrooms as needed. Set up Event Center and grounds as needed for scheduled events. Minor weeding Irrigation system oversight with facilities site administrator Work with contractor Testing/adjusting timing Other duties as assigned Qualifications To perform this job successfully, the Ballfield Groundskeeper must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the minimum knowledge, skills and ability required. Education/Experience High School diploma or general education degree (GED) and 1-3 years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience. Language Skills Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Mathematical Skills Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Reasoning Ability Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several variables in standardized situations. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Current and valid driver’s license, vehicle, registration and insurance. Experience operating tractors, mowers, and other grounds equipment/tools. Experience with various maintenance duties; electrical, plumbing, construction and use of hand/power tools preferred. Includes ability to use ladders, climb/descend bleachers and stairs. Stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling – Approximately 2/3 of on-the-job time. Talking or hearing – Approximately greater than 2/3 of on-the-job time. Weight lifted/Force exerted – An average of approximately 25 pounds continuously; up to 100 pounds non-continuously. Vision – Must have clear vision near and far, with or without corrective measures. Work Environment Environmental – Exposed to working near moving mechanical parts. Position requires time outdoors and weather conditions may impact some facilities with regards to humidity and/or temperature fluctuations. Must be able to work in dry/dusty to muddy ground conditions. Temperatures range from below zero to 100 degrees.
