We specialize in high-profile political projects—including Home of the Brave and Republican Voters Against Trump—and we're looking for a Head of Social Media to lead and elevate our social media operation at a critical moment for our work and our mission.This is a senior leadership role with real authority: over strategy, over a team, and over the function as a whole.### About the RoleWe need someone who can run a best-in-class social media operation across Longwell Partners' portfolio of pro-democracy projects. That means setting the strategy, managing and developing a team, driving performance across platforms, and treating social as a full-spectrum function — not just a content distribution channel. Social should be driving audience growth, advancing our mission, amplifying our content and talent, and delivering measurable impact. We need a leader who sees all of that and can execute against it.This role works closely with our political, communications, creative, and video teams. The right person is equally comfortable setting a monthly content calendar and rolling up their sleeves during a breaking news moment. They push back when needed, make smart calls under pressure, and bring genuine creative ambition to the work.Your Responsibilities* Own the strategy and performance of Longwell Partners' social media presence across all platforms, including X/Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, and others.* Lead, manage, and develop a small team, setting clear expectations, maintaining high standards, and building a sustainable operation.* Develop and maintain a weekly and monthly content calendar, balancing planned content with the ability to move fast on breaking news.* Develop and pitch original content series and recurring formats built for specific platforms, with an eye toward sustained audience growth and engagement.* Drive measurable growth in reach, engagement, and audience acquisition across platforms, with a particular emphasis on video.* Collaborate closely with political, communications, creative, and video teams to maximize the impact of our content across social channels.* Identify and develop social content assets that can support paid acquisition and broader communications campaigns.* Establish and enforce editorial standards and brand voice across all channels and projects.* Track, analyze, and report on performance, and use that data to drive continuous improvement.* Proactively identify and leverage trending content, popular audio, viral formats, especially on platforms like TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube Shorts to drive content performance.* Build a culture of social media accountability across the organization, including working with contributors and talent on their own presence and engagement.### What We're Looking For* 8+ years of experience in social media, with meaningful time in a leadership or management role.* A track record of building and running high-performing social media operations, ideally at a media company or in a political or journalism environment.* Deep platform fluency across major social channels, including a strong point of view on video.* Strong editorial judgment and the ability to maintain a consistent, sharp voice under deadline pressure.* Experience managing and developing a team.* A strategic mindset: you think about social as a communications and mission function, not just a publishing operation.* Genuine passion for politics, current events, and pro-democracy work.* The ability to push back constructively and hold your ground when needed.* Comfort working a schedule that includes at least one weekend day, with a weekday off in exchange.* Ability to be in the office (downtown DC) five days a week.
