Description
Lee County is seeking a skilled, experienced, and safety-focused Senior Equipment Operator to join our Department of Transportation Maintenance team.
In this role, you will support roadway and drainage maintenance across the county by operating heavy equipment, performing complex construction and repair tasks, and helping ensure safe, reliable, and well-maintained transportation corridors.

Duties and Responsibilities
What You Will Do

• Support roadway and drainage maintenance activities across the county
• Set up safe work zones and follow all safety protocols
• Operate a broad range of heavy equipment with a high level of skill and accuracy, including loaders, rollers, dump trucks, backhoes, skid steers, graders, pavers, mini excavators, and a Gradall
• Perform inspections and basic maintenance on assigned equipment, identify equipment needs, and complete minor repairs
• Lay pipe, build basins, complete asphalt work, repair leaks, place sod, and perform cement work
• Use lasers for alignment to support precise construction and maintenance tasks
• Haul, position, and transport heavy equipment as needed
• Maintain road right-of-ways to ensure clean and safe travel corridors
• Work independently or with a crew to complete daily assignments
• In the absence of the Crew Supervisor, assist with documenting daily activities
• Perform other related duties as assigned

Education, Experience, Licensing
What We're Looking For

• High School Diploma or GED, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Three years of heavy equipment operation or related experience
• Ability to work in a safety-sensitive position and comply with DOT Drug & Alcohol testing requirements

Licensing Requirements

• Valid Class A CDL permit with the ability to get a Class A license within 6 months

Safety-Sensitive Position

• This is a safety-sensitive position and is subject to Drug and Alcohol Workplace Testing under DOT regulations (49 CFR Parts 40 and/or 382).

Supplemental Information
Work Schedule: Tuesday-Friday, 7:00 AM-5:30 PM
This position follows a mandatory four-day, ten-hour work schedule and may receive up to ten hours of holiday pay at the regular rate for each observed holiday.
