Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Phlebotomist I to join our lab in Astoria. The ideal candidate will be responsible for greeting patients, performing blood draws, labeling specimens, and handling other laboratory processes with precision and care. This role requires a professional who can explain procedures clearly to patients, manage specimen collection, and ensure compliance with safety regulations.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients upon arrival at the lab and provide excellent customer service.
• Perform blood draws and specimen collection using straight and butterfly needles.
• Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required.
• Ensure all laboratory requisition forms match specimen tubes.
• Package specimens for transport and store them according to required temperatures.
• Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations and attend annual department trainings.
• Answer telephone inquiries and provide laboratory results as needed.
• Handle insurance, billing, and processing of samples with accuracy.
• Update and maintain patient information accurately in the system.

• Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment.
• At least 6 months of experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Strong understanding of venipuncture and specimen collection techniques.

• Previous customer service experience in any setting.
• Eagerness to learn and ability to take feedback well.
• Positive, hardworking attitude with a patient-first mindset.
• Proven reliability and positive attendance record.

The position is based in Astoria, OR, with a work schedule of Monday-Thursday 10AM-7PM and Friday 9AM-6PM. The initial contract duration is 3 months with potential extensions based on performance and business needs. This is a Contract position based out of Astoria, OR.

The pay range for this position is $18.98 - $18.98/hr.
