Estimator/Project Manager

Job Title: Estimator/Project ManagerJob Location: Columbia, SCBase Salary: $90K-$130KRequirements: 5+ years of Civil Estimating/Project Management experience across commercial, residential and industrial site development projects as well as DOT work. Position Overview:We are seeking an experienced Estimator/Project Manager to lead estimating and manage civil site development projects from bid through closeout. The successful candidate will prepare accurate cost estimates and bids, develop and maintain project schedules and budgets, coordinate subcontractors and suppliers, and ensure quality, safety, and client satisfaction for grading, earthwork, utilities, and water infrastructure projects. This role requires strong estimating experience, project management skills, and familiarity with HCSS and civil construction practices.Key Responsibilities:Prepare detailed quantity takeoffs, cost estimates, and competitive bids for civil/site development projects including grading, earthwork, utilities, and water infrastructureUse HCSS (HeavyBid/HeavyJob) and other estimating software to develop pricing, production forecasts, and resource plansDevelop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and cash flow projections; monitor performance and implement corrective actions to meet targetsManage project execution including coordination with clients, engineers, subcontractors, inspectors, and suppliers to ensure work is completed on time, on budget, and to quality standardsConduct site visits, pre-bid investigations, and constructability reviews to validate assumptions and identify risksPrepare and manage change orders, claims, and contract documentation; maintain accurate project records and cost reportingLead project kickoff meetings and regular progress meetings; communicate status, risks, and mitigation plans to stakeholdersEnsure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements and promote a safety-first culture on all projectsMentor and support junior estimators and project staff, and contribute to continuous improvement of estimating and project management processesQualifications:Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field, or equivalent experience5+ years of combined estimating and project management experience in civil construction, site development, or heavy civil contractorsProven experience with HCSS (HeavyBid and/or HeavyJob) and common estimating software; strong proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)Deep knowledge of grading, earthwork, utilities, water/sewer systems, and related construction methods and production ratesDemonstrated ability to prepare accurate quantity takeoffs, unit pricing, and labor/equipment/resource forecastsStrong project management skills including schedule and budget control, subcontractor management, and change order administrationExcellent written and verbal communication, negotiation, and client-facing skillsSolid problem-solving, decision-making, and organizational skills; ability to manage multiple projects simultaneouslyValid drivers license and ability to travel to job sites; OSHA 10 or 30, PMP, or other relevant certifications preferredBenefitsMedical VisionDental 401(K) Bonus Paid time offAnd More!
