Staff Data Scientist, Finance & Biz Ops

Salary: $164,695 - 339,078 per year Requirements:

• We need at least 8 years of relevant experience in data science, analytics engineering, or applied machine learning.
• We look for a bachelors degree in a quantitative discipline such as statistics, computer science, economics, engineering, or mathematics, or equivalent practical experience; an advanced degree is preferred.
• We expect strong hands-on expertise in time-series forecasting and quantitative analysis, including baseline design, scenario and adjustment modeling, backtesting, forecast accuracy assessment, and seasonality analysis.
• We need fluency in translating ambiguous business questions into precise metrics and diagnostics, with a disciplined approach to metric definitions, data integrity, and validation.
• We require advanced SQL skills and proficiency in a primary analysis language, with Python strongly preferred, plus comfort working with data warehouses and large-scale datasets.
• We look for proven ability to build and ship internal web tools, with meaningful front-end or full-stack capability using technologies such as JavaScript, TypeScript, modern UI frameworks, and interactive data visualization.
• We expect practical product-engineering judgment, including UX awareness, performance troubleshooting and optimization, state and edge-case handling, and sound release practices such as testing, build/lint, and changelogs.
• We value experience creating dashboards and self-serve analytics tools such as Superset, Tableau, Looker, or similar platforms.
• We need hands-on experience applying modern AI or LLM tooling to real workflows, with a record of moving from experimentation to adopted solutions.
• We look for the ability to build a business case for AI investment and drive adoption among non-technical users through enablement, documentation, and training.
• We expect a strong habit of staying current with AI research and the broader landscape, including reading papers and release notes and forming an independent view of what will be feasible in the next 6 to 12 months.
• We need the ability to interpret an engineering roadmap and align it with emerging technology trends to shape a concrete capability plan.
• We look for strong product and business strategy instincts, including prioritizing AI investments, sequencing bets, and separating durable capability from hype.
• We expect proven executive influence, with the ability to advise senior leaders on technical and AI strategy and communicate complex trade-offs in plain, decision-ready language.
• We want staff-level autonomy with the ability to independently scope, prioritize, and deliver multi-month initiatives with minimal direction.
• We need excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to write for executives and end users and to lead live training and walkthrough sessions.
• We value strong cross-functional collaboration across finance, operations, and technical or platform partners.

• We own forecasting tooling end to end, including the data pipeline, forecast logic, and the interactive web interface that planners use to create, adjust, and review forecasts.
• We build and maintain baseline versus adjusted forecast models, scenario and delta workflows, backtesting, and diagnostics such as year-over-year and month-over-month seasonality and engagement analysis.
• We design and ship user-facing product features, including charts and visualizations, onboarding flows, history and audit views, region and time-grain filters, performance improvements, and bug fixes that make the internal tool feel polished.
• We instrument product usage, analyze raw logs, and use adoption insights to shape the roadmap.
• We drive AI adoption across Finance and BizOps by turning platform capabilities into practical, trusted tools for finance users.
• We develop structured business cases for platform and IT partners, pilot new capabilities, and create enablement materials such as walkthroughs, documentation, and getting-started guidance.
• We stay ahead of the AI landscape by reading research and release updates and translating them into a realistic view of what will be possible in the near term.
• We track engineering roadmaps and connect upcoming platform capabilities to concrete opportunities for the CFO organization.
• We shape the CFO organizations AI strategy, prioritize investments, and advise senior leaders and executives on what is real, what is hype, and what is worth backing.
• We communicate complex AI and technical trade-offs in clear, decision-ready terms and serve as a trusted technical advisor in executive discussions.
• We deliver recurring finance analytics, including budget-versus-actuals, variance commentary, executive slide and deck preparation, and metric diagnostics such as MAU and revenue analysis.
• We identify and resolve data quality issues that affect recurring reporting and analytics.
• We partner closely with Finance, BizOps, Monetization, and platform or IT stakeholders.
• We turn ambiguous business questions into tooling and analysis, publish release notes and stakeholder updates, and run live walkthroughs and training sessions.
• We raise technical and analytical standards through rigorous validation, backtesting, reliable metric definitions, pragmatic build-versus-buy decisions, and durable documentation.
