Payroll Specialist

We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Payroll Specialist to support payroll operations in partnership with outsourced payroll providers. This role plays a key part in ensuring accurate, timely payroll processing, maintaining compliance with applicable regulations, and acting as a liaison between internal teams and external vendors.
This position can sit in Hartsville, SC , Charlotte, NC , and can be remote for a highly experienced candidate.

- Review and validate payroll data prior to submission, including timekeeping, deductions, bonuses, and adjustments
- Audit payroll reports for accuracy and resolve discrepancies with internal teams and payroll vendors
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations
- Maintain payroll records and documentation in accordance with company policies and legal requirements
- Support year-end payroll activities, including W-2 processing, tax filings, and audits
- Partner with HR, Finance, and IT to ensure accurate data flow across systems
- Respond to employee payroll-related inquiries in a timely, professional manner
- Assist in improving payroll processes and supporting system implementations
- Monitor vendor performance and participate in periodic reviews
- Take on additional responsibilities as needed
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related field
- 3+ years of payroll experience, preferably working with outsourced payroll providers
- Strong knowledge of payroll regulations and compliance requirements
- Experience with payroll systems such as ADP, UKG, Paychex, or similar HRIS platforms
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Excellent organization and communication skills
- Ability to handle sensitive information with a high level of confidentiality
- FPC or CPP certification is a plus
