Python Developer

Build and evaluate backend systems while helping improve next-generation AI models through practical software engineering expertise. This remote contract role combines API development with intensive hands-on testing of AI-powered coding workflows. Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimize scalable REST and GraphQL API endpoints.
• Implement strong data validation, error handling, and security practices across backend services.
• Plan and carry out database migrations, performance optimizations, and schema changes.
• Test AI-powered models in Cursor and provide actionable feedback through incident reports, bug traces, and screenshots.
• Take part in four-day intensive testing sessions that examine how AI models affect real coding workflows.
• Collaborate with a research team in a dedicated Slack channel to discuss findings and recommend improvements.
• Complete detailed post-testing surveys covering model performance and developer experience.

• At least 3 years of professional backend development experience with strong Python expertise.
• Proficiency building and maintaining RESTful and GraphQL APIs.
• Advanced knowledge of backend data validation, error handling, and API security.
• Hands-on experience with database migrations, performance tuning, and schema design.
• Extensive experience using AI coding tools. Familiarity with Cursor is highly desirable.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including clear incident and bug reporting.
• Ability to work effectively in fast-paced, confidential, collaborative remote environments.

• Visible open-source contributions, such as GitHub contributions or stars.
• Experience designing or evaluating experimental tools and developer workflows.
• Demonstrated enthusiasm for AI advances in software development.
