Journeyman Electrician

OVERVIEW

The Journeyman Electrician will conduct, maintain, test and repair electrical/electronic, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems and components in an industrial setting primarily on Aggregate Equipment Power Systems. Apply knowledge of electrical/electronic and mechanical principles in determining equipment malfunctions and apply skills in restoring equipment to operation. Provide skilled mechanical and electrical/electronic support to all areas of manufacturing.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems/components controlling mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and power generation equipment in an industrial setting, including but not limited to programmable/numeral controls, PLCs, drives, VFDs, switchgear panels and power supplies, sensors, gauges, and test equipment. Plan and perform work requiring a thorough knowledge of electrical/electronic and mechanical theories and principles, writing specifications, local and national electrical codes, properties of various materials, and principles of operation and application of electronic equipment. Install, start up, and shut down equipment in accordance with company safety procedures and OSHA requirements. Advise operators and line mechanics on operation procedures and requirements for working safely with electrical/electronic and mechanical equipment and components. Inform management and line mechanics of potential electrical/mechanical problems and inherent dangers involved. Maintain company-required performance and maintenance records for identified equipment. Perform preventive maintenance functions as directed. Assist maintenance personnel with technical troubleshooting. Assist and train other maintenance or other technical-level employees. Perform other duties as required.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Must share our Core Values: Do the Right Thing, Be Curious, Have Passion, and Be Innovative Educational background must include a high school diploma and two years of formal technical training Must have proven knowledge of the principles of electricity and electrical design Valid MN Electrician License Two years of journeyman’s experience in the installation, repair and maintenance of electrical systems, equipment and fixtures from blueprints, schematics and sketches or an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience 1‑2 years of proven experience in the electrical/electronics, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic fields, with ability to demonstrate high proficiency in these areas Experience and ability to work in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment A thorough knowledge of electrical/electronic components and equipment, including the use of special instruments for diagnostic purposes High degree of precision working with minimum tolerances required Exposed to high voltage electricity Requires a valid driver’s license and the ability to maintain an insurable driving record Ability to climb in overhead structures, work beneath machines and in close quarters performing analysis and repair work Must be highly safety conscious Must be able to work well with all levels of personnel, individually or in a team, and especially must be able to interface and communicate with line operators to assist with repairs and troubleshooting Willing to work any shift and overtime as required Must be willing to travel as there may be some overnight field service work involved from time to time, including traveling with very short notice at times
