Job Title: Student Assistant

Reports To: Property Manager

Location: SDSU Imperial Valley Campus - Calexico Commons

Compensation: $16.90 per hour. Position not to exceed 20 hours per week

FLSA Status: Student Non-Exempt

Company Information:

Capstone On-Campus Management (COCM), with headquarters in Birmingham, Alabama, is a group of student housing professionals focused exclusively on the management of housing communities owned by non-profits and/or highly affiliated with a university.

Summary:

A Student Assistant assists with daily business operations and preventative maintenance tasks in the community.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Maintain the cleanliness, appearance, and general upkeep of grounds, common areas, and exterior spaces.
• Replace air filters, light bulbs, smoke detector batteries, thermostat batteries, and other minor maintenance items.
• Assist with basic plumbing repairs, spill cleanup, mopping, water extraction, and other routine maintenance needs.
• Assist with cleaning and maintaining common-area restrooms and laundry facilities.
• Provide scheduled office coverage, including answering and directing telephone calls and assisting residents and visitors.
• Receive, log, organize, and distribute packages and mail.
• Receive, document, and route maintenance requests and assist with related paperwork and recordkeeping.
• Assist with resident move-in and move-out activities, including providing operational support before and after the academic year as needed.
• Provide general support to maintenance and operations staff.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

• High school diploma.
• Current student at San Diego State University - Imperial Valley Campus
• Demonstrate proficiency in verbal communication.
• Possess strong customer service skills.
• Ability to operate basic office equipment including a photocopier, fax, and telephone. Basic typing and filing skills
• Must have troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
• Ability to lift up to 35 lbs. and navigate up and down stairs.
