Certified Pharmacy TechnicianThe Certified Pharmacy Technician is responsible for assisting in the dispensing of outpatient medications to Springfield Clinic patients.Job RelationshipsThis position reports directly to the Director of Pharmacy.Principal ResponsibilitiesEnter prescriptions into the Liberty system.Troubleshoot prescription issues with Insurance companies and Liberty support staff.Take copayment from patients and deposit daily.Maintain cleanliness of Pharmacy area and related equipment.Properly handle and dispose of hazardous drugs and waste materials.Conduct routine medication inventories and assist with inventory control of medications.Assist in ordering supplies and medications. Receive and restock medications.Maintain any necessary QA logs, including but not limited to inventory logs, remittance statements, cleaning logs, temperature logs, and others.Participate in training and orientation of new employees as needed.Technician will be expected to cross-train to cover for Chemotherapy Admixture Technicians.Comply with the Springfield Clinic incident reporting policy and procedures.Adhere to all OSHA and Springfield Clinic training & accomplishments as required per policy.Provide excellent customer service and adhere to Springfield Clinic's Code of Conduct and Ethics Standards.Perform other job duties as assigned.Education/ExperienceHigh School graduate or GED required.Minimum one (1) year of IV chemotherapy compounding experience is preferred, but not required.Minimum two (2) years of retail pharmacy experience is preferred.Proven experience working with multiple stakeholders in a problem-solving environment.Licenses/CertificatesCertified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) required. May work under 1:1 direct supervision during training for a maximum of 60 days while obtaining board certification.Pharmacy Technician License with the State of Illinois.Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesAbility to efficiently operate a standard office equipment including a personal computer, computer software (ie, Microsoft Word, Excel), telephone, fax machine, and any other operating system utilized for this position.Skilled in entering prescriptions into Liberty system is preferred.Skilled in entering medications into Lynx system.Skilled in chemotherapy preparation using aseptic technique.Basic knowledge of chemotherapy medications and their usages.Working EnvironmentPhysical demands include sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, stretching, and lifting up to 25 pounds.PHI/Privacy LevelHIPAA1
