Description

American Traveler seeks a Certified Surgical Technologist for a Pediatric OR position requiring NBSTSA certification and prior labor and delivery experience.

Details

Pediatric OR unit within a children's hospital surgical services department

Averages 6 surgical cases daily

Labor and delivery unit handling typical OB cases including Cesarean Section, Dilation and Curettage, Dilation and Evacuation, Tubal Ligation, and Cerclage

Also handles non-OB high-risk cases such as Accreta/Cyst, laparoscopic ectopic, and cystoscopy

Pediatric surgical specialties include General Surgery, Cardiovascular, Orthopedic, Craniofacial/Plastics, and ENT procedures

Shift options of 5x8 hour days (0700-1530) or 4x10 hour days (0700-1730)

Call requirement included

100% floating required within the hospital or to a nearby affiliate hospital

Cerner charting system used

Requirements

BLS and NBSTSA certification required (preferred certs noted separately)

License required if applicable

Minimum of 1 year of surgical technology experience (18 months required unless otherwise noted)

Cerner EMR experience required

Trauma Level II experience required; Trauma Level I and teaching/community hospital experience preferred

Required skills include L&D experience, sterilization, scrub, high-level disinfection, and aseptic technique

Preferred skills include decontamination, crash cart management, and scope/probe reprocessing

Experience with pediatric general, cardiovascular, orthopedic, craniofacial/plastics, and ENT surgical procedures preferred

Proficiency in professional skills such as laser safety, radiation safety, specimen handling, sterilization/disinfection, and Universal Protocol (time out) procedures

Travel experience required

2 supervisor references required

SSN and DOB required for consideration

Additional Information

Support pediatric surgical cases across multiple specialties including general, cardiovascular, orthopedic, craniofacial/plastics, and ENT procedures

Perform aseptic technique, sterilization, and disinfection processes to maintain safe surgical environments

Participate in Universal Protocol (time out) procedures and emergency/fire safety management

Handle specimen labeling and maintain radiation and laser safety protocols

First-time travelers are accepted for this position

Local candidates (Indiana residents) are accepted at a lower pay package for this position

Past perm or PRN employees of the facility must wait 12 months before applying as a traveler

Current or past travelers with 12 months of accrued travel employment within the health system must take a designated break to reset eligibility: 3 months for out-of-state residents and 6 months for in-state residents

Up to 5 days of non-holiday RTO can be auto-approved; additional time off requires facility approval

Candidates must work 2 out of 3 major holidays
