Buyer - Aerospace Manufacturing

We are seeking an experienced Buyer to join a fast-paced, team-oriented aerospace manufacturing environment. The Buyer will be responsible for the timely and cost-effective procurement of materials, components, supplies, equipment, and outside services required to support daily production operations.

This role will work closely with Operations, Engineering, Production Planning, Shipping & Receiving, Quality/Inspection, and external suppliers to ensure materials are available when needed while maintaining cost, quality, and delivery requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Procure materials, parts, supplies, equipment, and outside processing services to support production requirements.
• Prepare, solicit, evaluate, and negotiate supplier bids and quotations.
• Maintain frequent communication with suppliers and carriers to confirm shipment dates, delivery schedules, and arrival times.
• Obtain and maintain accurate purchase order confirmations and delivery dates.
• Monitor supplier performance and recommend corrective actions when delivery requirements are not being met.
• Expedite orders and proactively communicate changes in delivery schedules to internal stakeholders and management.
• Monitor and communicate changes in supplier lead times and material availability.
• Coordinate shipment issues and troubleshoot delivery problems with suppliers and logistics partners.
• Monitor cost changes and communicate pricing impacts to management while identifying opportunities to control or reduce costs.
• Prepare detailed weekly vendor delivery performance reports.
• Research and evaluate new suppliers, materials, outside processes, and market developments to improve quality, availability, and cost.
• Analyze current and future market conditions to assess material and supplier availability.
• Maintain strong working relationships with suppliers and internal departments.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives and special purchasing projects as assigned.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• 3-5+ years of current purchasing/buying experience.
• Aerospace manufacturing or related industry experience is strongly preferred.
• U.S. Citizen or Green Card Holder.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making abilities.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to prioritize multiple purchasing requirements in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Project, and ERP systems.
• Ability to work effectively in both office and manufacturing environments.
• Demonstrated initiative and ability to work independently as well as collaboratively.
