Job Description Company Overview TruFund Financial Services, Inc. (“TruFund”) is a 501(c)(3) Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI), certified by the U.S. Treasury Department’s CDFI Fund. Headquartered in New York City, TruFund promotes economic development within underserved communities and among under-resourced populations. TruFund offers affordable loan capital to small businesses and nonprofit organizations that have difficulty accessing capital from banks or other conventional lenders. Offices are located in Louisiana (New Orleans and Baton Rouge), Georgia (Atlanta), Texas (Houston and Dallas), and Alabama (Birmingham). Position Summary The Loan Officer, based in Texas, will process loan applications, evaluate credit data, collaborate with underwriting teams, negotiate loan terms, and deliver excellent customer service throughout the lending process. They will identify and expand lending opportunities, provide technical assistance, and manage borrower relationships from origination through loan booking. Primary Job Functions Meet with loan applicants to collect financial and related data to determine the merits of the loan request. Guide borrowers through the application process and negotiate, where necessary, terms including costs, repayment method and schedule, and collateral requirements. Evaluate loan applicants and review appraisals, credit reports, and other necessary information. Coordinate with loan processors and underwriters to ensure accuracy and completeness of loan analysis and documentation, and that new loan requests comply with underwriting, product and program policies and guidelines. Increase TruFund’s loan program visibility, enhance new business opportunities, and promote programmatic and community development lending activities. Participate in special projects designated by the Chief Lending Officer, including delivering educational workshops and presentations at community events. Work closely with loan collections staff to contact borrowers with delinquent accounts to find a repayment method and avoid default. Cultivate new lending opportunities in target underserved markets and respond to referrals in a timely, professional manner. Promote a positive attitude and team approach to customer relationships. Minimum Qualifications Education and Related Work Experience: BS/BA required in Finance or a similar field. Minimum 5–7 years of lending experience with formal credit training. Experience with community development lending, SBA loans, and traditional and alternative loan programs. Knowledge, skills, and abilities: Strong financial skills and ability to develop and interpret financial statements. Superior analytical skills. Working knowledge of SBA Loan Programs, policies and procedures, as well as traditional and alternative loan programs. Proficiency in Windows-based software. Ability to travel to visit prospective and current clients. Ability to meet performance goals. Understanding of the local market, including financial institutions and community organizations. Strong commitment to community and economic development ideals. Strong interpersonal skills and proven ability to work effectively with a wide variety of people and organizations, including in racially, ethnically and socioeconomically diverse environments.
