Utilities Dispatcher
Contract length: 12 months
W2 Hourly Rate: $28/hour
Location: Richmond, VA
Overview:
Supports electrical distribution operations, focusing on service restoration and switching activities in a fast-paced, shift-based environment.

Key Responsibilities

Perform service restoration and switching activities across the electrical distribution system
Monitor outages, system conditions, and emergency events; report updates to management
Analyze data to support decisions and resolve issues
Maintain accurate reporting on outages and system status
Complete training program and achieve switching certification within 12–16 months

Required Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED
1+ year of relevant experience (dispatch, customer service, emergency services, or similar)
Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work under pressure
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
High attention to detail and accuracy
Willingness to work a 24/7 shift schedule, including overtime and storm response

Core Skills

Strong communication and teamwork
Ability to make decisions independently
Comfortable using computer systems and working with data

Preferred Qualifications

Electrical, mechanical, or utility experience
GIS or database experience
Prior utility or operations background
