Performs infant developmental assessments and developmental feeding assessments, makes recommendations for interventions and provides appropriate support and ongoing treatment for high-risk neonates in the NICU and Special Care Nursery settings. Provides counseling and education to parents/caregivers regarding their infant's developmental status and family adaptation to children with disabilities. Recommends appropriate developmental follow-up services upon hospital discharge.

Major Responsibilities:

• Provide comprehensive evaluative, consultative and direct patient care services to high-risk infants utilizing an integrated model of care.
• Collaborate with the neonatal team and parents/caregivers to develop individualized care plans and implement interventions that address the identified developmental needs of the infant.
• Provide ongoing education to parents/caregivers to address the specific needs of the infant as well as parents/caregivers.
• Participate in onsite designated program development in alignment with NICU objectives as directed.
• Identify appropriate referrals for follow-up services prior to discharge to promote continuity of care with community based developmental services.

Position Qualifications:

License/Certification/Education:

Required:

• Master's Degree in Physical Therapy or Occupational Therapy from accredited school or equivalent.
• Current license to practice in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

Preferred:

• Neonatal Therapy Certification (CNT)

Experience/Skills:

Required:

• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent customer service skills and ability to work cooperatively with all members of the health care team.
• Proficiency with Microsoft office products.

Preferred:

• Minimum of one year NICU experience.
• Infant Driven Feeding program experience.
• Orthopedic splinting skills.
