East West Bank gives people the confidence to reach further.OverviewThe Mortgage Credit Review Specialist is responsible for conducting thorough reviews of mortgage loan files with a focus on collateral valuation, and regulatory compliance. This role includes reviewing appraisal reports for accuracy and consistency with lending guidelines and preparing adverse action notices when a loan does not meet credit or collateral requirements. The specialist works closely with underwriters, loan officers, and compliance teams to ensure high-quality credit decisions and adherence to lending policies.ResponsibilitiesAnalyze and validate appraisal reports for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with regulatory and bank guidelines to minimize collateral riskHandle Reconsideration of Value (ROV) requests and act as the liaison between borrower and Appraiser/AMC to ensure ROV requests are documented, tracked and communicated appropriately and timelyIdentify deficiencies or risk concerns in collateral or borrower credit profilePrepare and issue denial (adverse action) letters in compliance with applicable RegulationsDocument findings and provide feedback to underwriting or processing teams asneededMaintain knowledge of lending regulations, internal policies, and industry bestpracticesAssist in internal audits or quality control reviews as requiredParticipate in other departmental assignments or projects as deemed necessaryMay perform other duties as assignedQualifications2+years of experience in mortgage underwriting, credit review, or appraisal reviewStrong knowledge of mortgage lending regulations, appraisal standards, and credit analysisExcellent attention to detail and written communication skillsExperience with Encompass Loan Origination System and appraisal review application preferredApplicants must have legal authorization to work in the United States.
