This role provides essential academic and behavioral support within a structured environment, utilizing both push‑in and pull‑out models to deliver small‑group instruction to at‑risk students. Responsibilities Provide literacy and mathematics intervention for K‑12 students. Deliver evidence‑based intervention through structured small‑group and individual sessions, adapting curriculum to meet the diverse needs of learners. Use differentiated instructional strategies to meet IEP requirements and address student behavioral challenges. Administer and analyze assessments to monitor progress, maintain rigorous data records, and adjust instructional intensity. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to evaluate student growth and update IEPs. Implement behavior intervention plans, maintain classroom safety, and respond to behavioral crises using de‑escalation strategies. Maintain progress reports, documentation, and session notes in compliance with organizational and regulatory requirements. Participate in mandatory trainings, professional development, and trauma‑informed care education. Complete and keep current all required certifications, licenses, and trainings (e.g., CPR, First Aid, SPA, HIPAA). Apply safe and positive approaches (SPA) restraint techniques when necessary. Adopt pandemic‑related protocols and use technology to engage students remotely as required. Perform additional duties that support the Academy’s goals and ensure student safety and well‑being. Physical Demands Stand, walk, sit, use hand/finger, reach with hands and arms, and talk/hear regularly. Employees may encounter physical aggression (kicking, hitting, punching, biting, hair pulling). Vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Work Environment The work environment includes occasional exposure to outside weather conditions, moderate noise levels, and service delivery in or near families’ homes. Employees are essential service providers and may be required to work with families during pandemics or natural disasters. Pandemic Conditions Must be able to perform job duties during a pandemic and use technology to interact with and engage students. Language Skills Ability to read, analyze, and interpret medical records, journals, reports, and legal documents; respond to inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or stakeholders; effectively present information to management and public groups. Qualifications Minimum Requirements Valid California driver’s license and reliable transportation. Minimum age 21 years. Secondary school diploma or recognized equivalent and at least two years of higher education (48 semester hours) *or* associate’s degree *or* passing the Paraeducator Competency Exam. Experience working with special education populations or youth with behavioral/emotional challenges. Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team. Preferred Requirements 30‑day substitute credential. Bilingual (English/Spanish).
