What This Job Involves

We are seeking a motivated, customer-focused Assistant Manager who thrives in a sales-driven environment while supporting daily facility operations. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys building relationships, identifying customer needs, and helping clients find the right storage solutions.

In this position, you will:

  • Build strong relationships with prospective and existing customers to understand their storage needs and recommend the best unit and retail supply solutions
  • Drive sales performance through unit leasing, upselling moving and packing supplies, renewals, and excellent customer engagement
  • Guide customers through the rental and renewal process while ensuring a seamless, professional experience
  • Deliver exceptional customer service by resolving questions and concerns quickly and effectively
  • Maintain a clean, secure, and “always ready” facility by assisting with inspections, lock checks, vendor coordination, custodial support, landscaping, and general site upkeep
  • Identify and communicate operational risks, customer concerns, and maintenance needs to leadership in a timely manner
  • Represent the company professionally through positive interactions, strong communication, and a customer-first attitude

Physical Requirements / Work Environment

  • Regularly lift items up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to sit, stand, kneel, crouch, crawl, bend, climb, and balance
  • Comfortable operating electric hand tools and facility equipment
  • Able to work in confined spaces such as storage units
  • Comfortable working on ladders, rooftops, and around facility maintenance environments
  • Position may support either Springfield or Lorton locations as business needs require

What We’re Looking For

  • Positive, outgoing personality with strong sales and customer service instincts
  • Passion for helping customers and identifying solutions
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to work Saturdays (closed Sundays)
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Basic computer proficiency
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills
  • Eagerness to learn, grow, and take on leadership responsibilities

The ideal candidate is energetic, dependable, sales-minded, and comfortable balancing customer service with operational responsibilities. Experience in retail sales, leasing, hospitality, storage, or customer-facing environments is highly valued.
