General Maintenance Technician

General Maintenance Technician Starting Date: Immediately – 12‑month position in the Facilities Department. Position Summary: Responsible for performing a variety of maintenance tasks and responding to work orders submitted from various people throughout the District. Qualifications Requires 2 to 5 years of job‑related prior experience. High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Requires 16 hours of Operations and Maintenance training. Requires completion of Asbestos Awareness Program. Citizenship, residency, or work visa required. Essential Job Functions Maintain and repair plumbing and install plumbing fixtures. Maintain and repair the roof and downspouts on District buildings. Maintain and repair interior and exterior windows and door hardware. Maintain and repair floors and ceiling tiles. Install and remove asbestos floor tiles. Maintain and repair all playground and gym equipment. Maintain and repair restroom fixtures and partitions. Weld and fabricate as needed. Install, remove and repair concrete. Repair and/or replace lockers. Install and repair window treatments. Repair and assemble various equipment and furniture as per work order. Perform periodic surveillance for asbestos conditions. Assist other maintenance personnel as needed. Serve as a substitute custodian as needed. Other duties as assigned. Compensation: Compensation for experience is considered (2026‑2027 Classified Salary Schedule).
