We are seeking a motivated professional for an Electrical Technician position in Crystal, New Mexico. The role involves servicing, troubleshooting, repairing, and installing electrical components for a commercial project. Housing, per diem, and standard company benefits are provided. Upon completion of the 2+ year project, there is potential to travel to a different project area. Job Summary The position is responsible for servicing, troubleshooting, repairing, or installing electrical components for a commercial project in Crystal, New Mexico. The person in this role must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of others in the workplace. Essential Job Duties Plan layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment, or fixtures based on job specifications and local codes. Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components. Test electrical systems or continuity of circuits using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, or oscilloscopes to ensure safety. Use tools such as power construction equipment, measuring devices, power tools, and testing equipment. Inspect electrical systems, equipment, or components to identify hazards, defects, or required adjustments. Place conduit and pipes in walls or concealed areas and pull insulated wires or cables through conduits. Diagnose malfunctioning systems using test equipment and hand tools. Select and use training/instructional methods appropriate when learning or teaching new tasks. Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems and equipment in accordance with local, state, and national electrical codes. Perform electrical inspections and troubleshoot electrical issues. Read and interpret electrical blueprints, schematics, and diagrams. Install and connect wiring, outlets, switches, and fixtures. Test electrical systems for functionality and safety. Collaborate with other tradespeople to complete projects on time and within budget. Ensure compliance with safety regulations and maintain a clean work area. Pre‑job and pre‑task planning. Identify behaviors and conditions that jeopardize safety of others. Question the need for additional safety precautions. Inspect all tools and equipment before use. Comply with site safety rules and wear prescribed PPE. Never take directions or changes to assigned work from client personnel without checking with the supervisor. Attend daily toolbox safety meetings and scheduled training sessions. Inspect work site continuously for unsafe conditions. Required Skills, Abilities, Education and Experience High School Diploma or equivalent apprenticeship. Minimum of five years of experience in the trade. Knowledge of safety rules, regulations, and client/company policies. Ability to handle multiple projects and make decisions using core values of quality, teamwork, pride, passion, and integrity. Proficient in computer, text, and email skills. Proficient with power tools and electrical testing equipment. Knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC). Experience with high‑voltage and low‑voltage systems. Strong understanding of electrical principles and concepts. Ability to build and install electrical systems in commercial and residential settings. Familiarity with reading and interpreting electrical blueprints, schematics, and diagrams. Basic knowledge of frame carpentry for installation purposes. Physical Requirements Pass Fit for Duty screening. Work in all weather conditions (hot/cold/muddy). High noise environment. Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts and construction machinery. Able to lift up to 50 lbs. Repetitive use of hands/arms and legs. Hand/eye coordination. Hearing and comprehension necessary for directions. Physical labor on construction projects. Operate hand and power tools of all types. Climb and maintain balance on steel/wood frameworks, stairs, ladders, and scaffolds. Use hands to grasp, lift, handle, carry objects frequently. Prolonged bending, twisting, walking, crawling, crouching, kneeling, reaching overhead, squatting, pushing, pulling, standing, lifting. Mental Requirements Consistent alertness and safe manner in performing job functions. Effective communication with management/supervision.
