Job Summary
The Millwright Journeyman is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, monitoring, adjusting, and repairing manufacturing equipment and machinery throughout the granule manufacturing plant. This role ensures the safe and reliable operation of plant machinery, crushing and coloring equipment, and conveying equipment while maintaining compliance with safety and regulatory requirements. This role will report to the Maintenance Supervisor.
Job Responsibilities
- Maintaining smooth operation of machinery and mechanical equipment.
- Troubleshooting specific industrial equipment by using precise measuring and testing instruments.
- Dismantling and reassembling equipment using hand and power tools.
- Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on production equipment.
- Reading and interpreting mechanical drawings, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Inspecting and assessing the remaining useful life of wear components.
- Fabricating repair parts by using machine shop instrumentation and equipment.
- Following lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures and other safety protocols.
- Utilizing Maximo computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
- Ensuring compliance with MSHA and company safety standards.
- Maintaining a safe and clean working environment by complying with company procedures, rules, and standards.
- Maintaining accurate maintenance records, work orders, and documentation.
- Collaborating with operators, production personnel, and maintenance team members to resolve equipment issues.
Qualifications
- Proven experience working in and maintaining a safe work environment with intimate knowledge of LOTO procedures or other relevant safety practices.
- Minimum of five years maintenance experience in manufacturing environment.
- Experience welding, fabricating, and installing mechanical equipment.
- Excellent working knowledge of appropriate use of hand tools and maintenance equipment.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical lubrication, coupling, alignment, and wear components.
- Ability to read and understand detailed repair & instruction manuals.
- Must be able to learn computer-based maintenance software (Maximo knowledge is a plus).
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Ability to lead, guide, and mentor junior millwrights.
- Possess superior analytical and troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills are essential.
- Ability to manage time effectively while handling multiple jobs with varying priorities.
- Must be able to work in a team setting with other tradesman.
- Rotating shift, holidays, and overtime may be required.
- Must wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work in industrial environments including exposure to dust, noise, heat, and moving equipment.
- Ability to climb ladders, work at heights, and enter confined spaces as required.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and perform physical tasks throughout the shift.
