Patient Service Specialist - Pediatric Speech & OT Clinic

Job Summary Provides service to patients before, during or post‑appointment with minimal guidance. Facilitates efficient workflow, supports appropriate use of technology, and engages in effective communication. Navigates complex patients, including scheduling with multiple services or coordination with outside facilities or providers. Position Hours Monday – Friday. Key Responsibilities Proficiently performs all Associate Patient Service Specialist responsibilities. Schedules appointments and procedures through clinical communication, work queues, and patient portal messages. Manages registration and patient work queues. Coordinates with patients and/or outside facilities to ensure all pre‑appointment orders and consults have been received and reviewed prior to patient visit. Communicates with patients through the patient portal using critical decision making to route appropriately as applicable. Technical Capabilities Customer Service (Intermediate): Ability to focus on customer needs, anticipate them, remain sensitive, and respond to customer needs. Patient Scheduling (Novice): Ability to coordinate and schedule patient appointments, procedures and other office visits with various computer systems in the hospital or clinic. Patient Documentation (Novice): Ability to receive and record patient information. Medical Terminology & Documentation (Novice): Ability to comprehend medical terminology and documentation. Appointment & Procedural Scheduling (Fundamental Awareness): Ability to coordinate and schedule diagnostic testing and procedures within various computer systems in the hospital. Core Accountabilities Organizational Impact: Performs typical routine tasks that may impact the team's performance with occasional guidance. Problem Solving / Complexity of Work: Utilizes some discretion and research to solve routine problems. Breadth of Knowledge: Applies knowledge of standards, processes, and procedures that apply to the job. Team Interaction: Provides guidance to entry‑level co‑workers. Core Capabilities Supporting Colleagues: Builds and maintains relationships and seeks to understand colleagues' priorities and working styles. Develops Self and Others: Continuously improves own skills by identifying development opportunities. Communicates Effectively: Shares information openly and courteously. Delivering Excellent Services: Provides compassionate service, solves routine problems, and offers accurate information and support. Ensuring High Quality: Checks work quality before delivery and meets safety and regulatory requirements. Managing Resources Effectively: Demonstrates accountability, stewardship of resources, and data‑driven decision making. Fostering Innovation: Generates new ideas, applies technology, and adapts to change. Qualifications Education: High School Diploma or GED. Relevant Work Experience: Minimum 1 year in a related role.
