Howard University Hospital – the nation's only teaching hospital located on the campus of a Historically Black University and a designated DC Level 1 Trauma Center – seeks a skilled MRI Technologist to join our Radiology team in Washington, DC. In this role, you'll perform high-quality MRI procedures for patients of all ages, from neonatal to geriatric, working alongside a multidisciplinary team of radiologists, residents, technologists, and nurses to advance our mission of excellence in clinical care, teaching, and service.What You'll DoOperate and maintain MRI equipment to produce high-quality images for accurate patient diagnosisMonitor each patient's condition before and after the scan to ensure their safety and comfortApply appropriate technique and shielding, and program the scanner to the proper settings and exposure as directed by the physicianPerform venipuncture and operate the power injector per department and manufacturer protocols, determining the appropriate contrast dosage based on patient age, weight, and requested procedureAddress patient concerns and explain the process throughout the exam to provide comfort and ensure the best possible careNotify the appropriate healthcare provider when procedural findings or patient condition require an immediate clinical responseTroubleshoot the scanner and equipment to minimize downtime, and conduct daily QA and equipment warm-ups to established standardsParticipate in teaching and in-service education programs for faculty, staff, and students in magnetic resonance imaging proceduresRequired QualificationsRegistered MRI Technologist – ARRT (MR) or ARMRIT registration requiredCertification as an MRI TechnologistCurrent CPR certificationMinimum of two (2) years' experience as an MRI TechnologistWorking knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy of the head, thorax, and abdomen, physiology, and MRI terminology, practices, and proceduresDemonstrated commitment to ALARA principles when operating equipmentStrong communication skills and the ability to exercise sound independent judgmentTact, courtesy, and poise in caring for anxious patients, and the ability to remain calm in a high-stress environmentAbility to lift moderate to heavy loads and stand for extended periodsAbout Howard University HospitalFounded in 1862 as Freedmen's Hospital, Howard University Hospital is the nation's only teaching hospital located on the campus of a Historically Black University. The base pay range is $37.05–$59.30 per hour, commensurate with experience and qualifications per the Local 2094 wage scale.
