Job Description AECOM is actively growing the East Region Environmental Planning & Permitting (EPP) practice and is seeking an Environmental Project Manager within the Southeast Region's EPP Department. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing environmental permitting and utility siting projects for energy and other private sector clients. The successful applicant will join a network of existing AECOM EPP specialists across the US. For this opportunity, we will consider candidates in any of our southeast region offices including, but not limited to, the following: Raleigh and/or Charlotte, NC, Greenville, SC, Atlanta, GA and Tampa, Orlando or Miami, FL. The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to: Manage and perform consulting projects to scope, schedule, and budget, learning and applying AECOM’s project management systems and software. The candidate will accelerate through AECOM’s in-house Project Management certification program within the first year of employment. Serve as a mentor to junior and mid-level staff. Perform client visits and field activities that require work outside the office and overnight travel. Coordinate, manage, and direct project field and data collection efforts. Develop, manage, and deliver business strategy and tactics, high-quality proposals, interdisciplinary teams, and documents and report deliverables. Serve as an interface with clients and regulatory personnel on complex projects and through business development initiatives. Proactively enforce a culture of producing high-quality work and the importance of Health & Safety within the team. Provide technical support to the EPP Department and individual Project Managers, and support inter-disciplinary business development activities. Collaborate with other AECOM offices, practices, and business lines. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: BA/BS in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Biology, Ecology, Natural resources, Wetlands management, or an earth science-related field + 6 years of experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education. 6+ years of experience managing projects and teams to scope, schedule, and budget Valid Driver’s License and as a condition of employment must be able to pass AECOM’s Motor Vehicle Records review. Due to the nature or work, US Citizenship required. Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree in relevant field. 8+ years industry experience, preferably with energy and other private sector clients providing environmental assessment and permitting compliance support. Experience in the Carolinas or Florida, and other surrounding States within the Southeast Region. Existing, mature, and tested Client relationships with an ability to generate new work for the Team, Office, and Company. Experience with regulator and stakeholder negotiations. Thorough working knowledge of CWA, ESA, NHPA, NEPA, and other federal, state, and local regulations. Experience managing linear utility projects and overseeing and assisting with the development and submittal of FERC filings desired. Knowledge of FERC requirements and related experience with preparing FERC Section 7(c) resource reports and pre-filing process, environmental permitting, NEPA, relevant environmental regulations and processes, and related environmental considerations desired. Experience in team management and scheduling of staff and resources to ensure on time and on budget project delivery. Experience preparing proposals, cost estimates, schedules, and change orders. PMP or other project management certification is a plus; candidate will be required to complete AECOM Project Management Certification. Have led teams of professionals in executing wetland delineations, threatened and endangered species studies, environmental permitting support, and other related studies/assessments/analyses. Demonstrated experience managing projects, interdisciplinary teams, and workload, as well as interface successfully with Clients. Experience performing or leading siting and routing studies for linear projects, transmission line and substation routing and siting alternatives. High degree of self-motivation and the ability to work independently with limited supervision, as well as in a collaborative team environment. Organizational management skills and ability to perform detail-oriented work Self-motivated, driven, and hard working. Demonstrated ability to market and win work successfully and effectively. Excellent communication skills, including both oral and written (writing sample required).
