Respiratory Therapist

This is a 13-week contract position.

Night Shift: 3x12.0

The Respiratory Therapist provides quality patient care by delivering intensive respiratory care and facilitating patient transport in and out of the facility as medically prescribed. The therapist evaluates patients and recommends appropriate treatment plans, explaining the purpose and procedures of treatment to patients while providing necessary education for discharge.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct physician-prescribed treatments using various ventilatory, oxygen, aerosol, and nebulizer devices.
• Perform chest physiotherapy to promote secretion clearance and suctioning using various methods.
• Conduct monitoring of oximetry and capnography according to policy.
• Review patient's chest x-rays and perform pulmonary function studies per policy.
• Assist with procedures relating to respiratory care, including bronchoscopy, chest tube placement, and tracheostomy care.
• Perform arterial punctures and manage ventilation efficiency monitoring and reporting.
• Adhere to laboratory testing policies and perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation according to BLS and ACLS guidelines.
• Maintain and monitor mechanical ventilation and facilitate preventive maintenance and equipment repair.
• Document all pertinent information related to treatments and patient responses.
• Communicate effectively with healthcare team members regarding patient care and therapy.
• Maintain accurate respiratory therapy charging and assist in training new staff.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure:

• Current licensure as a Respiratory Therapist.
• Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
• Previous experience in a clinical setting preferred.
