Responsibilities DESCRIPTION: The Coordinator, Career Development provides career andprofessional development services, including individual careercoaching, career and education research, job search advising,resume and interview critiques. Designs and presents careerdevelopment programming, including workshops and seminars anddevelops relationships with students, employers, faculty, staff,and alumni. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 1. Provides career and professional development services includingindividual career coaching and advising using assessments andresearch. 2. Develops, plans, executes, and facilitates career planning andprofessional development programs and events such as workshops andseminars. 3. Develops and maintains relationships to determine and offerservices (events, workshops, orientations) needed for students andacademic programs. 4. Provides department outreach and student engagement, such ascreating and disseminating newsletter, social media, and targetedemail campaigns. 5. Contributes to content and teaching materials for employabilityskills training, departmental orientation, and specialprojects. 6. Creates and distributes department marketing pieces andcollaborates with Marketing and Communications department withCollege-wide marketing efforts. 7. Screens and approves online database profiles and job postingsin compliance with department procedures. 8. Maintains and updates event information online. 9. Resolves student career services issues and escalates as neededto department leadership 10. Supports employer relations activities to include assistingwith on-site visits and tours, networking and promotionalactivities, and involvement with appropriate professionalassociations. 11. Performs other duties as may be required or assigned. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS 1. Bachelor's degree from a regionally or nationally accreditedinstitution. 2. One year of experience with presentations, training, orteaching. 3. One year of experience in higher education, business,non-profit management, or human resources. 4. One year of experience planning and coordinating events andactivities. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS 1. Master’s degree from a regionally or nationally accreditedinstitution. 2. One year of experience providing career coaching andcareer/professional development programming. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES 1. Knowledge of the community college philosophy. 2. Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communicationskills. 3. Strong presentation and facilitation skills and ability tocreate presentations for students, faculty, staff, and outsideconstituencies. 4. Strong planning, organization, program development andevaluation skills with a demonstrated competency to overseemultiple tasks with attention to details. 5. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, as well ascritical thinking ability. 6. Ability to exhibit a professional, courteous demeanor. 7. Ability to meet deadlines and work in a fast-pacedmulti-priority environment. 8. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, andPowerPoint). 9. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team offaculty, staff, and administrators. 10. Committed to working in a multi-cultural environment. WORK ENVIRONMENT and SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS 1. Works in an office environment. 2. Works flexible hours, including evenings and weekends. 3. Travels between buildings, campuses and to off-site appointmentsand events.
