UX Designer

Our Client is looking for a Senior UX Designer to support a large-scale Ontario Government digital transformation initiative focused on building a modern Common Compliance Management Platform (CCMP).
The successful candidate will lead end-to-end UX research and design, working with product owners, business stakeholders, architects, developers, and Agile delivery teams to create accessible, intuitive, and user-centered digital services.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead UX activities across the full product lifecycle, including discovery, research, design, prototyping, usability testing, validation, implementation, and continuous improvement.
- Plan and conduct user research, including interviews, stakeholder workshops, surveys, usability testing, and consultations.
- Translate research findings into personas, customer journey maps, service blueprints, information architecture, user flows, wireframes, mockups, and interactive prototypes.
- Develop and iterate designs using Figma or equivalent UX design tools.
- Apply human-centered design, UX/UI best practices, and evidence-based design methods.
- Ensure solutions meet AODA, WCAG, Ontario Design System, and digital accessibility standards.
- Collaborate with product owners, business stakeholders, developers, architects, and cross-functional Agile teams.
- Lead stakeholder workshops, requirements gathering, design validation, and consensus-building activities.
- Establish and apply UX metrics, performance measures, and continuous validation practices.
- Provide strategic UX, service design, accessibility, and digital experience recommendations.
- Support solution architecture, options analysis, and business case development.
- Participate in Agile delivery activities including user stories, sprint planning, backlog refinement, testing, and user acceptance activities.
Must-Have Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience leading human-centered UX research and design for complex digital products and services.
- Strong hands-on experience conducting user interviews, workshops, surveys, usability testing, and stakeholder consultations.
- Demonstrated experience leading end-to-end UX design from discovery through delivery.
- Strong experience creating personas, user journeys, service blueprints, information architecture, user flows, wireframes, mockups, and interactive prototypes.
- Experience with the Ontario Design System or similar government/design systems.
- Strong understanding of AODA and WCAG accessibility requirements.
- 3+ years of Service Design and Digital Product Delivery experience.
- Hands-on experience with Figma or equivalent prototyping/design tools.
- Experience working in Agile, Scrum, Lean, or DevOps environments.
- Experience with Azure DevOps or similar Agile delivery tools.
- Experience supporting public sector, government, enterprise, or large-scale digital transformation initiatives.
- Strong stakeholder engagement, facilitation, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Nice to Have
- Experience establishing UX metrics and measuring digital service performance.
- Experience supporting multiple user groups and complex business domains.
- Experience advising senior stakeholders on UX strategy, service design, accessibility, and digital experience.
- Ontario Public Service or broader Canadian public-sector experience.
