Development & Technical Support Specialist - Telework Hybrid

Job Description and Duties

This position is located at the DMV Headquarters in Sacramento.

The Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) is seeking a motivated Information Technology Specialist I (ITS I) to join the Identity and Access Management (IAM) team within the Information Security Branch. This role supports the systems and processes that ensure secure and reliable access to DMV applications and data. The ITS I configures and maintains enterprise identity services, supports account lifecycle management, assists with directory and identity integrations, and contributes to implementing access governance models such as role-based access control (RBAC). The position also participates in identity-related incident response, audit support, and continuous improvement of IAM procedures and documentation. We are looking for a candidate who is analytical, detail-oriented, adaptable, and able to work effectively in a collaborative technical team. Working Conditions

Part-time telework available. Telework requires California residency. This position offers hybrid telework opportunities; however, telework arrangements are subject to change at any time based on State & departmental operational needs. Employees may be required to report to the office as necessary.

Desirable Qualifications

In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:

Experience supporting identity and access management (IAM) solutions in an enterprise environment. Experience administering identity lifecycle processes, including provisioning, deprovisioning, and access reviews. Experience working with identity platforms such as Okta/Auth0 or similar cloud-based identity providers. Knowledge of authentication and authorization concepts (e.g., MFA, SSO, federation, RBAC, directory services). Experience working with directory technologies or identity repositories (e.g., Active Directory, LDAP-based services). Knowledge of identity governance concepts and best practices. Experience analyzing and documenting technical requirements, workflows, or identity integrations. Ability to troubleshoot identity-related issues across applications, platforms, and user groups. Experience supporting information security programs or applying security policies and standards. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
