The Project Engineer I is part of the project team working in collaboration to successfully complete construction projects and begins to support with technical project items. This is a non-exempt position that is an individual contributor.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Provide internal project support through administration and coordination of project tasks.Set up jobs in project management software, create Job Information Sheets and establish Job Files.Assemble subcontracts for review.Maintain data accuracy of project management software (Procore).Create and process purchase orders throughout duration of project.Prepare project schedules based on estimated hours, electrical tasks, project milestones, resource leveling, Project Manager Guidelines and project criteria.Create and update project schedules and labor tracking sheets.Coordinate Tier-Subcontractor scheduling with Baker Electric Project Foremen.Obtain and maintain all necessary permits.Discuss utility service, supply, or project related issues with inter-departmental personnel and field forces, representatives of agencies, engineering firms, contractors, developers, manufacturers and distributors.Review and understand basics of single line, lighting and switchgear.Review all Requests for Information (RFIs) generated from Baker field personnel and compare these to the project drawings and specifications.Coordinate the RFI process ensuring answers are received in a timely manner.Maintain a log tracking the routing and time frames of all submittal documents.Coordinate with suppliers and subcontractors ensuring submittals are complete and correct prior to forwarding.Administer the closing of the project by coordinating the completion of the project punch list.Coordinate with the Foremen or Superintendent as necessary to ensure the punch list is completed in an expeditious manner.Process Baker Electric field generated change order requests.Provide input and respond to project status requests in a timely manner to meet project deadlines.Perform overtime work, as required and requested by Supervisor to meet department and company needs.EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION:Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, or related degree or successful graduation of an electrical training program1+ year of professional administrative experience and/or internshipProven ability to learn new technologyProficiency in MS Office / O365 applicationsAt Baker, we are proud to be an employee-owned company.
