Manager, Data Science & AI Delivery Lead - Clinical Development and Medical Affairs

Gilead Sciences seeks a Manager, Data Science & AI Delivery Lead in Raleigh, North Carolina to design and deliver advanced analytics, machine learning, and generative AI solutions for clinical development and medical affairs. The role combines hands-on data science expertise with end-to-end delivery accountability, partnering across multidisciplinary teams to translate scientific problems into validated, production-ready data products.

Responsibilities

• Lead discovery sessions with clinical development and medical affairs stakeholders to define analytical questions, hypotheses, and product requirements
• Perform data exploration, preparation, feature engineering, and model prototyping using clinical, operational, and scientific datasets
• Design, develop, and evaluate machine learning, natural language processing, and generative AI solutions appropriate to the business context
• Own end-to-end delivery of assigned data science and AI products, managing scope, roadmap, sprint execution, and adoption
• Establish rigorous experimentation and evaluation approaches, including baseline comparisons, error analysis, bias assessment, and explainability review

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in data science, statistics, computer science, engineering, applied mathematics, bioinformatics, or related field; or Master's degree
• 6+ years relevant experience (or 4+ with Master's degree) developing statistical, machine learning, NLP, or generative AI solutions
• Proficiency in Python, SQL, and standard data science libraries
• Hands-on experience with supervised and unsupervised learning, experimental design, feature engineering, and model evaluation
• Track record delivering data science products from problem definition through production deployment and adoption
• Working knowledge of data pipelines, cloud platforms, APIs, and version control systems
• Knowledge of data governance, privacy, security, validation, and GxP regulatory requirements
