Job Title Facilities Maintenance Technician Department & Location Engineering & Maintenance Central Islip or Hauppauge, NY Employment Type Hourly Salary USD 24.00 – 32.00 per hour Work Hours 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM Job Description To support the upkeep and functionality of facility infrastructure, utilities, and cleanroom environments in compliance with pharmaceutical cGMP standards. The role ensures all facility systems operate efficiently and safely to support uninterrupted manufacturing operations. Job Responsibilities Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on facility systems including HVAC, boiler, plumbing, lighting, compressed air, and water systems. Monitor and maintain cleanroom conditions, ensuring compliance with environmental and cleanliness standards. Assist in the upkeep of utility systems such as boilers, chillers, air handling units, and purified water systems. Respond promptly to maintenance requests and breakdowns, minimizing disruption to operations. Conduct facility inspections and report all safety, cleanliness, or equipment performance issues. Support preventive maintenance schedules and maintain accurate records of work performed. Ensure compliance with safety protocols and GMP requirements during all maintenance activities. Take temperature, pressure, and humidity readings of clean rooms. Operate utility equipment such as boiler, air compressor, dust collector, and other related equipment. Maintain the utility area and housekeeping of spare store. Repair and maintain rooms for painting, wall, ceiling, door, lighting, plumbing and record the work in GMP documentation. Coordinate with external contractors and vendors for specialized facility services. Perform heavy lifting and bending, ladder usage, height work, and move objects using hand trucks as required. Wear appropriate PPE and, when required, respiratory devices such as Air Purifying Respirators (APR). Perform checklist‑based inspections and record findings per good documentation practices. Operate and maneuver scissor lift and other equipment such as Big Joe. Facilitate manufacturing and packing departments in the complete cleaning of rooms for light and duct section removals. Provide immediate feedback to supervisors regarding unsafe equipment or working conditions. Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area with all automatic equipment fully functional. Flexibility to work extended hours (weekends/holidays) to achieve manufacturing schedules when needed. Job Qualifications & Experience ITI/Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, or Facility Maintenance preferred. 2–5 years of experience in facility maintenance, preferably in a pharmaceutical or GMP‑regulated environment. Basic understanding of cleanroom operations and utility systems. Familiarity with maintenance documentation and safety procedures.
