Regulatory Compliance Senior Advisor

The role influences enterprise‑wide decision making by interpreting regulatory requirements, advising senior leaders, and driving proactive compliance strategies that reduce exposure and support business objectives. Through cross‑functional collaboration, the Senior Advisor strengthens governance, enhances audit readiness, and promotes a strong culture of compliance and accountability. Responsibilities Develop company‑wide policy, program and procedure documents to support the company's compliance with the required agencies. Lead response to regulatory compliance monitoring events, enforcement actions, compliance filings, data‑reporting, and data requests. Develop and maintain compliance plans, procedures, and reports. Improve regulatory data management; ensure all legal registers are updated, and that incident management tools and systems are functioning and properly integrated with business planning processes. Improve the identification, monitoring and interpretation of new and changing technical regulations, assess impact and prepare operations for any required changes. Identify and initiate continuous improvement in regulatory compliance and identify opportunities to improve policies and standards. Conduct proactive compliance and operational risk assessments to identify potential areas of non‑compliance. Collaborate with various stakeholders to provide direction and implement sound business decisions. Review strategies and business communications to ensure compliance with applicable rules and regulations enacted by external regulatory authorities. Initiate, manage, and oversee periodic audits or assessments of the compliance program to verify compliance performance and engage in gap analysis and, if appropriate, recommend improvements. Review company procedures to ensure they align with the company's current codes and policies. Ensure the protection of all physical, financial and cybersecurity assets, and properly access and manage private customer data, proprietary information, confidential medical records, and other highly sensitive information and data with the highest standards of conduct and integrity. Minimum Qualifications Ten or more years of experience with regulatory compliance, guidelines, compliance standards, risk assessment of noncompliance issues or cybersecurity. Preferred Qualifications 10+ years of progressive experience in regulatory compliance, risk management, internal audit, or a related governance function within the electrical utility industry. Deep knowledge of applicable regulatory frameworks and standards (e.g., FERC, NERC, WECC, CAISO, and industry‑specific regulations). Proven ability to interpret complex regulatory requirements and translate them into practical, business‑aligned guidance. Experience developing or enhancing compliance programs, governance frameworks, or monitoring strategies using AI technologies. Strong background in audit management, regulatory examinations, issue remediation, and control design/effectiveness testing. Demonstrated experience advising senior leadership and influencing enterprise‑level decisions. Excellent cross‑functional collaboration skills, with the ability to lead without authority and align diverse stakeholders. Advanced analytical, problem‑solving, and strategic thinking capabilities. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including executive‑level briefings. Additional Information Position work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days. Employees are required to work and reside in the state of California unless otherwise noted. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage; it can be changed based on business needs.
