Certified Nursing Assistant

Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA)As a CNA, you will support the school nursing staff by providing health care to students. Your duties will include collecting and recording students' medical findings, maintaining medical records, and reporting any noteworthy observations to a supervising school district nurse. Additionally, under the supervision of your school district clinical team, you will perform specialized procedures and health care services for students with medical needs. You will also support students with their activities of daily living and classwork, as well as provide first aid and emergency care. Your students will vary in age ranging from 3 to 22 years old, depending on the school you are assigned to.Dispensing medication and maintaining medical logs according to physician instructions and school policy, under the direction of the school district nurseProviding first aid and emergency care to ill or injured studentsPerforming specialized physical health care services and procedures for students with medical needsPerforming toileting and diapering assistance to students while in full compliance with internal policiesAssisting students with classwork and activities of daily livingFollowing students' medical orders, health care plans, individualized education programs, and other legally binding documents related to studentsConferring with students, parents, and staff regarding student health and student needsDetermining urgent and emergent scenarios requiring escalation to supervising school district nurse and/or 911Acting as a mandated reporter, reporting signs and symptoms of child abuse or neglectActing as a first responder to anyone on school grounds in an emergencyCreating and maintaining health office records, reports, documents, files, and suppliesTaking appropriate action to ensure compliance with state law and district policy and procedureActing as a clerk and receptionist as needed, answering telephones and inputting dataBasic math proficiency including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, sufficient to accurately perform medication calculations, diabetic care tasks (such as carbohydrate counting and blood glucose-related calculations), and other routine nursing responsibilitiesThe ability to lift, carry, push, and or pull up to 50 pounds unassisted and over 50 pounds with assistanceThe ability to provide life-saving interventions if needed (this includes the ability to perform at least 5 sets of hands only CPR for roughly 2 minutes)The ability to assume and maintain a variety of postures (kneeling, squatting, crawling, sitting, standing) for extended periods of timeThe ability to sit on the floor, stand, or walk for extended periods of time and includes the physical demands of assisting a student or students in and outside of a classroom spaceMust be able to operate and navigate a variety of specialized health care equipment and computer interfacesMust have reliable transportation and be willing and able to travel between different job sites as neededAbility to read, write, and communicate effectively in English across verbal, written, and digital formatsMust be able to exchange information in loud and fast-paced environmentsEducation: High school diploma or equivalentGraduation from a CDPH-accredited Certified Nurse Assistant training programExperience: Previous CNA experience preferredLicensure and Certifications: Current and unrestricted CNA certificate within state of practiceBLS certification through the American Heart AssociationThis pay range represents Covelo Group's good faith minimum and maximum range for this role at the time of posting.
