SY26-27 High School Science Teacher

We are seeking a Science Teacher who possesses an unwavering commitment to the Fugees Family, Inc. mission and a willingness to go above and beyond to meet the needs of students, families, and staff. This is a 10‑month exempt position, reporting to the School Leader. The program begins with middle‑school level; however, our instructional scope covers Kindergarten‑level material. Most Fugees Academy students begin middle school performing well below grade level. Responsibilities and Duties Teach science classes using a wide range of presentation techniques to adapt activities for different learning styles and language proficiency levels, while only using the approved curriculum and materials. Build a trauma‑informed connection to facilitate learning. Manage the classroom with an emphasis on mutual respect and positive reinforcement. Demonstrate outstanding instructional skills, including the ability to motivate and challenge students. Recognize and teach lagging skills necessary for student growth. Help students develop intrinsic motivation to learn. Employee Expectations Excellent command of the English language with a passion for supporting expressive language in non‑native speakers. Commit to building deep, authentic relationships with students and families. Perform duties in a positive, productive, accurate, and punctual/on‑time manner. Receptive to coaching, mentoring, feedback, and performance evaluations for professional growth. Essential Qualifications Minimum of 2 years of full‑time teaching high‑school level science, preferably in an urban setting. Minimum of an undergraduate degree. Teaching certification is a plus. Demonstrated ability to create and maintain a warm, yet strict and orderly classroom environment. Demonstrated expertise in the subject area and demonstrated student achievement results.
