PRODUCTION SUPERVISOR

SUMMARY:

The Production Supervisor is responsible for directing, in coordination with the Production Manager, the production schedules and processes for manufacturing to ensure that effective and efficient production flow is maintained. This position ensures that employee performance is adhered to within the manufacturing department and that the Company's production goals and customer's commitments are being met. The Production Supervisor directly supervises Production Department Leads with emphasis on continuous improvement of processes and training. A strong work ethic, positive work attitude, and team player orientation are requirements for this job.

JOB DUTIES:

• Understand Company vision and long-term goals.
• Develop and maintain production schedules and measure progress, as well as, continuous improvement by established standards of performance for production employees.
• Recognize and solve problems affecting production including schedules, staff, quality, and equipment maintenance.
• Communicate with the Production Manager as it pertains to equipment, tools and material needs for production staff to complete work.
• Establish Standards of Operation for the manufacturing department with the assistance of Production Manager.
• Ensure that all of the customer’s recommendations, as required, and all Company established rules are adhered to by all employees within the manufacturing department.
• Plan, direct and coordinate activities within the manufacturing department to ensure meeting the production schedule. Enlist the assistance of other departments as needed to complete company functions and manufacturing schedule.
• Investigate cause of deviations to production processes, potential changes to production process and assist with implementation of corrective action. Monitor progress of each step to prohibit further deviations.
• Assist management and production team in reviewing specifications for material conversions (perforating process) produced and develop solutions for the perforating process.
• Lead and supervise all production employees. Listen and communicate with employees about questions, concerns, comments and suggestions.
• Encourage production employees to consistently provide quality work and quality product that meets or exceeds Company standards and customer’s specifications.
• Ensure employees are correctly entering information into shop management software system and make corrections as needed, as well as ensure employees are trained on functions of the system.
• Assist Sales and Administration employees in matters on inventory control, product support and aftermarket problems.
• Enforce Safety practices, policies and procedures among production employees.
• Assist management with review and investigation of accidents caused by production employees to Company equipment. Complete necessary paperwork and forward to appropriate personnel. Report any injury to HR Dept. immediately.
• Conduct training needs assessment and develop training schedule for employees.
• Ensure new production employees have received required training and completed paperwork.
• Forward training records and certificates to HR Dept. for processing
• Assist HR Dept. to complete and conduct direct report evaluations.
• Assist Vice Pres. of Admin. with employee evaluations.
• Promote teamwork and show a willingness to work with other departments.
• Participate in Company meetings as needed.
• Take initiative to find solutions quickly to problems that arise.
• Demonstrate good planning practices in order to do jobs in a very timely, efficient and safe manner.
• Demonstrate self-motivation to continuously improve his/herself, job duties and tasks.
• Maintain an excellent attendance record.
• Demonstrate willingness to work to company work schedule.

REQUIREMENTS:

• High School Diploma or G.E.D required.
• At least 3-5 years of experience in an automotive manufacturing management or similar management position required.
• Proven ability to effectively communicate with employees and customers.
• Read and interpret blueprints, manuals, diagrams and work orders.
• Advanced leadership and management skills with objective, positive results.
• Ability to make sound business decisions and execute these decisions.
• Ability to develop short-term and long-term goals and objectives, execute the goals and obtain positive results.
• Ability to develop, implement and effectively evaluate projects and goals.
• Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing to coworkers.
• Detail, quality and safety oriented.
• Ability to positively motivate and coach employees.
