Maintenance Mechanic V

Maintenance/Construction Technician IV (S) This position is located at Neuse Correctional Institution in Goldsboro, North Carolina, a medium custody male facility. The primary purpose is to perform preventive and routine corrective maintenance tasks and repairs across multiple trades to ensure that assigned systems within the Adult Correction Facility and support buildings are maintained safely and efficiently. Responsibilities Execute preventive and corrective maintenance on a variety of systems including emergency generators, gate operators, plumbing, electrical, fence repair, HVAC/Refrigeration, low‑pressure boiler, pneumatic systems, security doors, and commercial kitchen equipment. Supervise skilled, semi‑skilled, and unskilled labor (including offenders) to complete assigned tasks and provide support to other staff members in routine corrective and preventative maintenance. Carry out other duties as assigned by the supervisor to support facility operations. Qualifications Journey level competency in mechanical/plumbing and at least two additional trades, preferably HVAC/Refrigeration and Electrical. Ability to work from sketches or drawings and operate common power tools and machine‑shop equipment. Knowledge of low‑pressure heating plant operations and building/machinery maintenance techniques. EPA TypeI,II,III or Universal Technician certification is required; applicants must provide current certification copy. Preferred Skills Proficiency in multiple trade skills related to facility maintenance. Experience with emergency generators, gate operators, and high‑volume maintenance tasks.
