RN - PCU


Job Details:


• Work 12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM or 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• Night shift hours: 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM; option to work 48 hours available
• Self-scheduling with manager balancing; schedule opens 6 weeks in advance
• Every other Friday, Saturday, and Sunday weekend requirement
• Typically 2-3 holidays required during winter; otherwise every other holiday
• No on-call or standby requirement
• Nurse-to-patient ratios: Days 1:4-5, Nights 1:5-6 dependent on acuity
• Nurse aide support available: Days 1:9, Nights 1:12
• 28-bed Progressive Care Unit with a neuro focus
• Common diagnoses include strokes, seizures, Guillain-Barré, Myasthenia Gravis, spinal injuries, thrombectomies, TNK/TPA 24 hours post, AMS, dementia, trauma ortho injuries, hematomas, bleeds, and MVA accidents
• Must have 2 years of MS, PCU, or ICU experience with at least 1 year of experience in setting within the last year
• Must have drip experience; required to titrate drips including Heparin, Nitro, Diltiazem, Amiodarone, 3%, and Insulin
• Tracheostomy and ventilator experience is highly preferred; willing to train on vents but RN must be open to learning
• RT equipment includes vents, trachs, CPAP, BiPAP, Vapotherm, and EtCO2
• Central telemetry monitor located in a separate area
• Floating required to sister MS units across 6 different specialties including mixed care, cardiac, general, MS ortho, and heme/onc
• Orientation includes 1 general shift and 1 shift with a preceptor
• Any solid color scrubs required
• Charting system: Cerner
• Required certifications: BLS (AHA), NIHSS
• Must clock in and out at the facility
• Open to first-time travelers

This acute care facility is a Level 2 Trauma Center offering a wide range of specialized medical services. The Progressive Care Unit features a strong neuro focus and supports a diverse patient population with complex medical needs. The facility utilizes Cerner for charting and provides a collaborative environment with charge nurse and house supervisor support across multiple specialized units and sister departments.
