Job Description

Job Summary:

The Radiation Therapist is responsible for delivering precise radiation treatments, performing patient simulations, and operating treatment equipment in accordance with department protocols. They ensure patient safety, maintain accurate documentation, and support the delivery of high-quality radiation therapy services.

Responsibilities:

• Operate radiation treatment units and CT equipment to deliver planned therapy with minimal supervision.
• Perform daily linac and CT quality assurance tests, including monthly assessments.
• Conduct patient simulations, construct immobilization devices, and utilize IV contrast and respiratory gating when needed.
• Train and mentor other therapists in CT/Simulation procedures, including AcQ simulation and SBRT techniques.
• Maintain and verify all treatment records, treatment plans, and patient schedules in MOSAIQ and related systems.
• Follow safety standards, utilize proper body mechanics, and adhere to radiation protection principles, including ALARA.
• Safely operate CT on rails for IGRT and accurately perform IGRT procedures across various treatment sites.
• Identify equipment malfunctions, inform appropriate personnel, and participate in emergency procedures as required.

Qualifications:

• Hold ARRT certification and registration in Radiation Therapy.
• Complete an approved Radiation Therapy training program.
• Demonstrate proficiency in operating treatment and simulation equipment.
• Possess strong knowledge of radiation safety practices and QA procedures.
• Exhibit excellent communication skills and ability to train team members.
• Maintain current knowledge of all department safety protocols and emergency procedures.
