Rehabilitation Technician (Rehab Tech) Job DescriptionI. Purpose and Overall DutiesThe Rehabilitation Technician (Rehab Tech) supports therapy staff in providing rehabilitation services in a long-term care or related setting. The role assists with patient care activities, preparation of treatment areas, and maintenance of equipment to ensure efficient and effective therapy operations.II. Essential Job FunctionsA. Patient SupportAssist patients with non-clinical aspects of therapy sessions under the direction of licensed therapy staffHelp patients prepare for and transition between therapy activitiesSupport patient transport to and from therapy areas as neededProvide encouragement and assistance to promote patient participation and safetyB. Therapy Support / Equipment ManagementPrepare and maintain therapy treatment areas, equipment, and suppliesClean, organize, and disinfect equipment in accordance with infection control standardsSet up therapy equipment as directed by therapy staffMonitor inventory of supplies and report needs to appropriate personnelC. Documentation / Logistics / Patient SatisfactionAssist with non-clinical documentation and administrative tasks as directedSupport scheduling and coordination of therapy activitiesContribute to patient satisfaction by maintaining a clean, organized, and supportive environmentFollow all company policies, procedures, and safety protocolsD. Collaboration / Team SupportWork under the supervision and direction of licensed therapy staffCommunicate effectively with therapists and team members regarding patient needs and workflowParticipate in team meetings or training sessions as requiredE. Essential Physical DemandsAbility to assist with patient transport and positioning using safe techniques and assistive devicesAbility to stand, walk, and move throughout the workdayFrequent bending, reaching, lifting, and carrying of equipment or suppliesAbility to lift or move equipment and assist patients as appropriate within safe practice guidelinesAbility to use proper body mechanics in accordance with safety standardsVI. Work EnvironmentLong-term care or clinical settingAbility to travel to various locations where patients are located, including long-term care, short-term care, and private homes. This work will involve ability to enter and access buildings, work with patient in their existing space. Varying environmental conditions may be encountered while traveling.Indoor environment with frequent movement throughout therapy and patient care areasVII.
