Bookkeeper- Full-Time

Shell World- Key Largo, FL.
Job Type: Full- Time
Work Location: Hybrid- majority onsite with some remote possible
Compensation: $22-25/hour, commensurate with experience.
 

Job Summary

Shell World is a family-owned retail destination that has been serving the Florida Keys for decades. Our large retail store offers an extensive selection of coastal décor, gifts, apparel, souvenirs, jewelry, shells, and island-inspired merchandise.

We are seeking a detail-oriented, trustworthy Bookkeeper to manage our day-to-day financial operations and maintain accurate accounting records. In this role, you will oversee accounts payable and receivable, perform monthly bank reconciliations, and assist in generating essential financial statements to support company growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Record Transactions: Maintain the general ledger by accurately posting daily debits, credits, and financial transactions.
• Manage AP/AR: Handle invoice receipt and organization, and vendor payments.
• Reconcile Accounts: Perform regular bank and credit card reconciliations to spot and resolve discrepancies.
• Process Payroll: Execute timely and accurate payroll runs while adhering to local and federal regulations.
• Financial Reporting: Profit and loss statements are prepared by our accountants. Responsible for providing all necessary information to the accounting team for monthly financial reporting.
• Compliance: Ensure financial record-keeping aligns with basic accounting principles and standard regulatory guidelines.

 

What we’re looking for:

• Preferred Experience: 3 years of proven experience in bookkeeping or general accounting. Experience with high-volume inventories. 
• Software Proficiency: Strong working knowledge of QuickBooks Desktop, QuickBooks Online, and Microsoft 365 Business applications.
• Technical Skills: Proficient in spreadsheet tools (Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets) for data analysis and tracking. Familiarity with the ACH system and ACH batch payments. 
• Knowledge: Solid grasp of double-entry bookkeeping, cash/accrual accounting, and basic payroll rules.
• Soft Skills: Exceptional attention to detail, strong organizational abilities, and professional communication skills.
• Screening: References encouraged. Ability to pass Criminal Background check and Employment Credit Report.
